Facilitation Skills for Clinical Learning and Debrief

Aim

To develop highly trained clinical facilitators to lead the integration of simulation into multi-professional clinical training.

Learning Objectives

 

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Have a clear understanding of Human Factors and the impact on Patient Safety.
  • Understand effective patient safety standards and competencies.
  • Understand what facilitation is and how it should be used effectively.
  • Further develop and demonstrate an appropriate communication style.
  • Have awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses as trainers or coaches.
  • Understand behaviour and how to manage difficult situations.
  • Develop the skills to give and receive constructive criticism and praise.
  • Begin to develop their observation and debriefing skills.

Methodology

The course will be carried out virtually using breakout rooms, videos, and desktop exercises for the delegates to practice their skills which can still be recorded and played back for self analysis.
