Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)

We Respect and Keep Your Data Safe

The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) protects your personal data while enabling organisations to use your data reasonably to serve you. We, as a public healthcare institution, respect and keep your data safe by:

• limiting access to only doctors and healthcare personnel who are involved in your care, and the supporting internal processes,

• conducting regular checks to ensure that your personal data is only accessed by authorised persons, and

• removing details, as far as possible, that identify you when using your data for internal purposes.

Research Purposes

At SingHealth, we are committed to serving the needs of our patients by constantly pushing the frontiers of medicine through research. We have committed a significant amount of resources in our research processes so that the outcome of our research studies may offer better clinical care and outcomes to all our patients today and for generations to come.

Based on the specific class of data subjects you belong to, and the requirements under the PDPA, including where we may have obtained your consent where legally required, we may use your personal data for research purposes which include,

If you are a patient or a healthy volunteer subject

a) Identification and pre-screening to assess your suitability as a candidate for our clinical studies and contacting you after pre-screening to participate in our research studies if you are identified to be a suitable research candidate;

b) Use of your personal data for research projects and future related research studies;

c) Ensuring your safety during research projects;

d) Linking lab analysis results to clinical findings;

e) Coding your medical records and biological tissues to conduct clinical research;

f) Processing and administering your claims, disbursements and other inconvenience fees incurred as a result of your research participation;

g) The carrying out of necessary activities for the purposes of the research study, including tracking study subjects, medical records and study files archived offsite, tracking and tracing your clinical symptoms as part of the research, scheduling follow-up visits/appointments with you and collecting and testing tissue and tumour samples provided by you (we may send specimens to internal and external business units for laboratory experiments);

h) Attending to your enquiries and complaints

i) Reporting to MOH for policy formulation purposes

j) All other purposes reasonably related to the aforesaid
