Clinical Event Debriefing (CED)

This CED workshop shares concepts of various debriefing models that participants can utilise in clinical events debriefing. The models are established guided reflection tools, i.e. plus/delta, directive feedback, advocacy inquiry and Socratic questioning techniques etc., utilised by the simulation based education domain and are proven to be effective in guiding healthcare learners towards identifying gaps for further improvements. Participants will also be introduced to a standardised CED template that guides new CED debriefers to conduct and record key debriefing points, including guided practices to apply the debriefing tools through role plays.   


Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 

  1. Describe 3 debriefing models utilised for clinical events debriefing
  2. Facilitate clinical event debriefing in a non-threatening and constructive manner
  3. Provide constructive feedback to staff to motivate consistent improvements in clinical performances
  4. Identify clinical performance gaps for follow up actions
