Critical Appraisal of Education Literature (ESSENTIAL)

When reading education literature, have you came across studies that use qualitative research methods to explore issues – such as how a new pedagogy helps health professions trainees to learn more effectively? Do you question such papers’ validity, reliability and generalisability, and wonder if a different set of quality criteria apply to them? If you have been asking these questions, this workshop is for you.

Learning Objectives

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the place of qualitative research in education literature
  • Understand the importance of conceptual frameworks
  • Explore the quality criteria of qualitative research
  • Critique educational literature using a framework
