NRF is conducting a study titled "Foundations of Security and Data Privacy", with a team of researchers led by Prof Abhik Roychoudhury (Provost's Chair Professor of Computer Science, NUS).
The study will cover the topics listed below, and culminate in a report which will be shared with NRF’s Scientific Advisory Board, RIE Domains and Horizontals, R&D funding agencies, and the wider research community in Singapore to guide investments in the foundational research capabilities of Singapore.
Topics for Foundations of Security and Data Privacy
Scientific Area
Keywords
Trustworthy Systems
Establishing trust and system assurance in digital systems, core technologies for attack detection and prevention in software and hardware, auto-code models, new technology platforms like IoT and autonomous systems
Cryptography
Quantum-safe cryptography, cryptanalysis of potential cryptosystems, quantum/physics-based cryptography techniques
Trustworthy Machine Learning and Data Privacy
Trustworthy machine learning, decentralized computation with confidentiality and privacy, large-scale private computation, auditing privacy risks, fairness, transparency, privacy beyond data protection
Blockchains
Potential blockchain innovations in the financial sector, fintech, and e-supply chain, decentralised finance (DeFi) applications. Scalability of blockchains, use of zero-knowledge protocols, interoperability, privacy preservation for cross-blockchain platforms, analysis of on-chain data
As part of this study, a workshop will be held in April 2022 for the team to share their initial ideas and recommendations with the wider scientific community and to solicit feedback. The workshop will be open to all members of the scientific community, funding agencies, and other stakeholders. Participants in this and subsequent workshops will have the opportunity to review the preliminary focus and recommendations of the studies and provide their feedback to the team.
The workshops will be held via Zoom on the Date/Time as follows. Please register for the Zoom session using the links below, to receive the Zoom link via e-mail. Please feel free to forward this invitation to your interested colleagues as well.
