Surgical Health Services Research

Director, Assoc Prof Emile Tan's message:

Health services research (HSR) focuses on the organization and delivery of health and social services. HSR explores whether services are effective, appropriate, scalable and economically sustainable. Effective HSR research can affect healthcare on a regional, national and international policy level. Examples of HSR research include investigations into access to healthcare, quality of life, healthcare utilization, healthcare decision-making, data analytics and outcomes research.

Within Surgery ACP, examples of HSR research published to date include unplanned readmissions, frailty and surgical outcomes, quality of life after surgery, and the use of machine learning in identifying high-risk surgical patients.
