“For my reservist stint as a medic in September 2021, our entire unit was mobilised to support Singapore’s home recovery programme and COVID-19 vaccination efforts in the community. While in-camp, we went through vaccination training and refreshers on emergency response, to prepare ourselves for administering vaccines to seniors at their homes.
It is meaningful to be able to reach out to the elderly and help keep them safe from the virus, as they have mobility issues that make it hard for them to head down to a community vaccination centre. I am glad to have been a part of the home vaccination programme!”
Jiang Zhenghao is a Medical Laboratory Technologist at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Making lives better has been his motivation since his full-time National Service days as a medic. He dedicates his time in the laboratory performing diagnostic tests for infectious diseases such as Zika and MERS-CoV. During the pandemic, he processes COVID-19 samples and ensures accurate results despite a surge in workload and within the set turnaround time.
Zhenghao has been with the hospital for more than 12 years – his first job since graduating with a diploma in Biomedical Science. A jovial and friendly person, he describes himself as happy-go-lucky. On his days off, he indulges in planted aquariums and building plastic models!
