Dr Ong Yu Jie obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2017 from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Upon graduation, she completed her postings at the National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP), Health Promotion Board (HPB) and National University Centre for Oral Health Singapore (NUCOHS). She feels especially for children with dental phobias and those with special healthcare needs. As such, she went on to complete her Master of Dental Surgery in Paediatric Dentistry at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2023 to further her training in this field. To her, the most fulfilling thing in seeing a child comes not from “healing” but when she witnesses a fearful child grow through each encounter and even feel empowered as time goes by. She is particularly interested in community dentistry and did her thesis on silver diamine fluoride application in children by nurses at well-child visits.
