Dr Fong Yuke Tien is a Senior Consultant, specialising in Occupational Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She pioneered the development of Occupational Medicine services and medical specialist training for Occupational Medicine in SGH. SGH houses an Occupational Medicine specialist unit in a public hospital, which offers these services to the public. She has more than 25 years of experience in Occupational Medicine and in Education. She has advised numerous companies in setting up their Occupational Health and Safety Systems, Emergency Planning Services, in Clinical Epidemiology and in Wellness / Healthy Lifestyles corporate planning.
Dr Fong has a clinical portfolio in the department of Internal Medicine. She served as Clinical Epidemiologist and Head of Epidemiology & Occupational Medicine during the SARS crisis in 2003, the Director of Education and Training in SingHealth in 2002 planning for the Duke NUS GMP and as Associate Consultant in the Emergency Medicine Department. She has active participation in many committees like the SHS / SGH Disease Task Force in SARS, VRE, Casemix, in development of the
Safety Network, in the SHS Standing Committee in Education, STC for Occupational Medicine etc. She was pioneering Chair of the AFBC and is a member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee for SGH. She was actively involved in the successful accreditation of the hospital with AAALAC and OSHAS 14001.
Dr Fong’s sub-specialty interests include Occupational Toxicology, Ergonomics, Health Services Review, Workplace Risk Assessment and Clinical Epidemiology.
