At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

1. Understand the causes of dynamic behaviour at a basic level

2. Utilise the standard approach to developing System Dynamics models

3. Learn to use the basic tools and techniques in developing these models

4. Communicate system dynamics insights to stakeholders persuasively, fostering collaboration and support.

5. Create interventions that are adaptable, sustainable, and have the potential to create lasting positive health impacts within communities.

The course is scheduled to be conducted in-person in Singapore from 13-24 May 2024.

The course structure accommodates two distinct levels of participants. In the first week, participants will be divided into two groups. The first group comprises individuals with no prior knowledge of system dynamics, offering them an entry point into the foundational principles of systems thinking. This segment aims to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive understanding of dynamic systems, particularly within the context of community health.

Concurrently, the second group of participants enters the course with a foundational understanding of the basic concepts and methodologies of system dynamics. Tailored to enhance their existing knowledge and refine their technical skills, the workshop component for this group serves as an opportunity to delve deeper into the application of system dynamics modelling.

During the second week of the course, participants will work in teams with complementary expertise including system dynamics modeling and simulation, community engagement, bioinformatics, and health services research. Each team will work on solving a real-world problem or issue in community health using system dynamics.
