Megestrol

• Nausea or vomiting
  This may happen when you first start taking Megestrol. If this occurs, take your tablets right after a meal.
• Weight gain due to increased appetite

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

• Signs of blood clot over a vein e.g. calf tenderness, warmth, redness
• Sudden onset of cough, chest pain or shortness of breath
• Swelling of hands, feet and lower legs which causes discomfort
• For women: Unexpected bleeding or discharge from the vagina

• Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any other medical conditions e.g. diabetes, history of blood clots.
• Use effective birth control during treatment with Megestrol. Inform your doctor if you plan to get or suspect that you are pregnant.
• Do not breastfeed. Inform your doctor if you intend to breastfeed while taking Megestrol.

Megestrol is a tablet, to be taken by mouth. Take the exact number of tablets as instructed by your doctor.
It may be taken with or without food. Swallow with a glass of water.

If you miss a dose of Megestrol, take it as soon as you remember if it is within a few hours of your missed dose. If it is too near to your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing time. Do not double the dose.

​If you overdose on this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.
