Diabetes insipidus:Desmopressin is usually administered up to two or three times day. This depends on age and response to the medication, as determined by your doctor.
Nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting):Desmopressin tablet is administered once daily, at bedtime.Fluid intake should be limited to a minimum from 1 hour before administration until the next morning, or least 8 hours after administration. It is important for caregivers to follow the fluid restrictions strictly due to potential side effects if not adhered.
Desmopressin comes in three different forms:
Desmopressin tabletThe tablet is to be taken orally, with or without food. For those who are unable to swallow, the tablet may be crushed and mixed with small amounts of food or liquid for consumption.
Desmopressin intranasal solutionRefer to "Desmopressin Intranasal Solution (Administration" on administration of the solution.
Desmopressin nasal sprayRefer to "Desmopressin Nasal Spray (Administration)" on administration of the spray.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
