"I work very closely with patients and their family members to customise meal plans that meet their specific needs. Involving the patients in a dietary change can be complex, and solely imparting knowledge may not change their behaviour successfully. In my role, I learn about motivational interviewing and its applications in health-risk reduction and behaviour change. By incorporating it into nutrition counselling sessions, I help my patients become less resistant, gain more motivation, and become more likely to change their behaviour for the better."
