Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for postdoctoral fellowship research awards made possible by the generous gift from the estate of Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat.
The Khoo Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards (KPFA) present a prestigious opportunity for exceptional postdoctoral research fellows to engage in cutting-edge research under direct supervision of a Mentor. The primary selection criterion in awarding these fellowships is excellence. The Review Committee seeks evidence that the candidate’s research and publication will make a significant, original contribution to medical or biomedical science.
Funding Details
Funding per award is capped at S$150,000 over a period of 2 years.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have completed one of the following degrees or its equivalent: PhD, DSc, MD, MBBS, DDS, DVM, PharmD.
Applicants must be able to devote full-time effort (at least 0.75 FTE) to research activities.
Applicants may not have more than 3 years’ of postdoctoral research experience at the time of application.
Applicants who fulfil the following condition(s) are not eligible to apply.
- Eligible to apply for the SingHealth/Duke-NUS New Clinician Scientist Scheme (NCSS) or National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Research Training Fellowship or
- Have received a national-level award e.g. New Investigator Grant (NIG), etc. or- Eligible to apply for the Transition Award (TA) from the National Medical Research Council (NMRC).
Applicants who had previously been awarded the KPFA are not eligible to apply.
Applicants who fulfil the following conditions are eligible to apply.- Have accepted a postdoctoral research position with Duke-NUS or their Mentor’s institution based in Singapore, by the application closing date, and
- Anticipate receipt of their PhD/DSc/MD/MBBS/DDS/DVM/PharmD degree by 1 June 2024
Applicants with a first (or co-first)-author publication will be given priority.
Applicants must apply under the guidance of a Mentor1.
1 An investigator holding a regular rank, clinical or adjunct faculty appointment with Duke-NUS and capable of providing mentorship to the applicant. In addition to supervising the proposed research, the Mentor’s role is to foster the development of the Fellow’s overall knowledge, technical and analytical skills, and capacity for scientific inquiry. The Mentor is also expected to assist the Fellow in attaining his/her career goals.
