Objective
Temasek Foundation Innovates is a Singapore-based non-profit philanthropic organisation that funds and supports programmes focusing on developing practical solutions for a better life through research and innovation. Established in 2016, it aims to strengthen research capabilities by nurturing talents, as well as encouraging multi-disciplinary programmes and inter-agency collaboration for collective capabilities.The Singapore Millennium Foundation Research Grant Programme (SMF Research Grant Programme), which came under the management of Temasek Foundation Innovates in 2017, aims to fund and support projects in niche research areas, as well as encourage multi-disciplinary programmes and inter-agency collaboration for collective capabilities. They want to encourage more ideas and solutions that can help to address challenges we face in our community.For this Temasek Foundation 11th SMF Research Grant Call, they are interested in the research areas that supported these four key themes:
Funding Details
The grant award is up to S$750,000 over a period of 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria
The grant is open to any institution from any local entity (e.g. Institute of Higher Learning, public and private sector, and Social Service Agencies). Joint applications by two qualifying institutions are also allowed.
Interested researchers from any local entity in Singapore (such as SingHealth cluster institutions) are welcome to apply for the grant as Principal Investigator (PI).
All investigators (e.g. including early career investigators) are welcome to apply.
Applicant can choose to submit as a single application OR as a joint application by two qualifying institutions.
Each Host Institution must appoint a PI for the project and both Host Institutions must sign off on a single joint application.
PIs from SingHealth cluster institutions can partner with other researchers from Singapore-based institution.
Note:The SMF Research Grant Programme provides funding for applied, translational, and downstream research. The programme does not fund basic and early stage research efforts.
Submission
Interested applicants are to complete the application form using ‘SMF Grant 2020 Edition - Application Form’.
Interested applicants are to submit the 2 soft copies of the completed application form (please see below) through your Host Institution's Research office to Temasek Foundation Innovates CLG Limited at admin.smfgrant@temasekfoundation.org.sg by 31 January 2021 (Sun).

1 Signed version in colour and in PDF format. Electronic signatures are allowed.
Each application must be endorsed by PI’s Head of Department and PI’s Host Institution's Research Director (or equivalent) prior to submission.
For joint applications, each Host Institution must appoint a PI for the project and both Host Institutions must sign off on a single joint application.The appointed PI are to submit the completed application forms to his/her Host Institution’s Research Office.
SingHealth PIs are to please refer to your respective Institutional Research Administrators for guidance on internal deadlines and submission procedures set by your institutions.
